Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said in an interview last week she believes President Donald Trump’s presidency is being used by God to create “change” and to help teach the United States “lessons.”

Haley, a former governor for South Carolina, was responding to a question during an interview with CBN News chief political analyst David Brody, which questioned God’s reasoning for making Trump president of the United States.

Brody asked: “What is your view kind of spiritually on the sovereignty of God and what he is doing exactly by putting Donald Trump as president of the United States?”

“Well, I think that it goes to show that everything happens for a reason, and the way I see it is look at the results of Donald Trump as president,” Haley replied.

Haley added that Americans should observe, and notice that “more friends and family” are employed than ever before.

“We have the economy moving in a direction it hasn’t been in a long time but is doing great.”

“We are acknowledging real truths with the president that had the courage to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” Haley added.

The 47-year-old, who has spoken openly about her Christian faith in the past, said she believes Trump has been very courageous to “change what was the status quo and to do it in a way the American people wanted to see it.”

“They did want a disruptor-in-chief. They did want someone who was going to go against the grain and get us out of our comfort zone.”

She added: “I think that God sometimes places people for lessons and sometimes places people for change. And you can look at everything that has happened, and I think we are seeing a lot of change, and I think we are gaining a lot of lessons from it as well.”

Haley’s comments came as outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry said he thinks Trump is the “chosen one.”

Perry made the remarks in an interview released by “Fox & Friends” over the weekend.

“God’s used imperfect people all through history. King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect,” Perry told Fox News. “And I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago, and I shared it with him.”

“I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one,’ and I said, ‘You were.’”

Perry said there’s a “plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.”

“I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.’

“Barack Obama didn’t get to be the president of the United States without being ordained by God. Neither did Donald Trump.”

Regarding Trump, he said, “I hope I’ve been a bit of a minister, if you will, a person who’s been able to share my faith with the president.”

Earlier this year amid the trade war, Trump referred to himself as the “chosen one” to take on China’s trade practices.

He said: “Somebody said this is Trump’s trade war. It’s not my trade war. This is a trade war that should have taken place a long time ago by a lot of other presidents.”

“Somebody had to do it. I am the chosen one.”

Trump later said he was just joking and having fun when he made the comment.

Fox News chief national correspondent Ed Henry noted that Perry had “pointed out to me he believes Barack Obama was sent by God as well, for that moment and that time.”

“He thinks at this moment and this time, Donald Trump was sent by God to do great things,” Henry said.
