Officials met Wednesday to discuss the scandal that rocked the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Connecticut officials made two attempts to let authorities in Massachusetts know about his drunken driving arrest. No action was taken by the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

During a discussion of 1,600 new license suspensions that went unnoticed at the MassDOT Finance and Audit committee meeting, a board member blasted the RMV.

“I truly find it incomprehensible as to how someone, anyone, considered it acceptable to place suspension documents into bins, then place them into storage without being processed,” Tim King said.

An external audit is under way.

“That doesn’t make up for the mistakes that were made before the acting registrar stepped in. But the fact that we have been able to accomplish what we have been able to accomplish in so short of an amount of time does give me optimism that we will be able to fix this process,” Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack said.
